If you’re a creative powerhouse looking to make a real impact, this is your moment to shine! Business and Arts South Africa NPC (BASA), a driving force in the arts and culture sector, is opening the doors to a thrilling Production Manager opportunity for the Cultural Producers Programme (CPP) and SoCreative Summit 2024. This isn’t your average gig; it’s an exhilarating 7-month journey that kicks off in January 2024.
At BASA, we’re all about pushing boundaries and fostering change. Born in 1997, we’re the result of a groundbreaking partnership between government and the private sector. Our mission? To bring businesses and the arts closer than ever before. We live and breathe collaboration, innovation, diversity, agility, and integrity. Our goal is to ignite business investment in the arts, cultural, and heritage sectors, acting as the catalyst that connects both worlds. We’re all about building focused and enduring partnerships that unlock shared value and nurture social cohesion. Our commitment is unwavering – we’re here to ensure the arts stay relevant and sustainable. We make it happen through innovative programmes that provide knowledge transfer, skills development, and training within the cultural and creative sectors. At BASA, we’re all about opening doors for the arts, making them “opportunity ready.”
But that’s just the beginning. We’ve identified a leadership gap in the South African cultural and creative landscape, and we’re teaming up with Common Purpose SA, backed by the British Council Creative Economy Programme, to bridge that gap. We’re on a mission to cultivate a network of emerging leaders who will breathe new life into the sector. The CPP is our rocket ship for supercharging skills development, empowering global networks, and propelling innovative new work in ever-evolving markets. It’s the engine behind the SoCreative Summit, a platform established by the British Council to bring together young creative producers and innovators, sparking fresh practices, business models, and opportunities. We’re bringing the creative sector to the table for brainstorming, discussions, and insights from leading voices in the cultural community.
And now, the spotlight is on you. As our Production Manager, you’re stepping into a role that’s pivotal for our success. You’ll be right in the heart of the action, reporting directly to the Creative Producer and Strategic Projects Manager. You’ll work hand in hand with our Research team and the broader BASA crew to plan, execute, and manage various aspects of the CPP and SoCreative Summit. Your responsibilities will be as diverse as they come – project administration, production management, logistics, research, content development, event coordination, and contributing to monitoring and evaluation plans, among other exciting tasks. The best part? We’re all about flexibility, and we’re open to remote work arrangements with at least two days a week in the office. If you’ve got your PC and cellphone, that’s a plus, and we’ll ensure you have the data you need.
What We’re Looking For:
● An undergraduate qualification that fits the bill
● A proven track record of at least 3 years as a top-notch producer and production manager
● Words are your superpower – excellent written and verbal communication skills
● You’re a new media ninja
● Master of all writing and speaking styles – switching between formats is second nature to you
● Your time management and planning skills are off the charts
● Attention to detail is your middle name
● Administrative wizardry
● A knack for management
● MS Office is your playground
● Research is in your DNA
● Adaptability is your forte
● Responsibility runs in your veins
