Nadene Mckenzie is is a performer, facilitator and aspiring choreographer. She is also a qualified integrated dance teacher, receiving training in Vienna in 2010.

She joined Remix Dance Company in 2006. Since then, she has produced exceptional work as a performer, is a differently abled teacher in a wheelchair and has established herself as a well-recognised figure within the performing arts community, both nationally and internationally.

Mckenzie is one of the co-founders of Unmute Dance Company and has performed in company works. She co-curates Unmute’s annual ArtsAbility Festival, an inclusive arts festival in South Africa, which was founded in 2014.

In 2013, she was nominated for the Imbokodo Awards in the Dance category, received a Tribute Award in the Arts and Culture category, and was selected as one of the Mail & Guardian’s 200 Young South Africans. In 2018, Nadene was awarded with an Imagine Award in the disability category, for promoting work that creates awareness on disability and inclusion.
