Hannah Nokwazi van Tonder is a 25-year-old small-town girl who is an accredited academic (with a BA in Dramatic Arts and MA in Critical Diversity Studies), researcher and the co-owner of Sketch Productions.

Hannah completed a live season run of METSI, a Sketch Productions’ work, at the South African State Theatre in 2021. She wrote and directed the play, with dramaturgy by Paul Noko. METSI was on the curated Main Programme at the National Arts Festival and is expected to hit Ster-Kinekor movie screens in 2022.

She has completed two post-graduate courses on the global campus of human rights and at the Robben Island Museum in 2019/2020, as well as a short course on second-hand trauma counselling under the Lifeline Professional Healthcare services through the Gay and Lesbian Archive. She teaches dance and drama to underprivileged children in Soweto on Saturdays.
